People

  • Pinny founded Plaza Partners after seven years as a senior member of the Plazacorp development team. While there, he led the acquisition of prime GTA development sites, representing over $2B of developed value. Pinny initially established Plaza Partners by identifying undervalued, income-generating properties with significant redevelopment potential. Under his leadership, the company has evolved into a full-service, end-to-end real estate development and management platform. Now operating as Resident, the company’s portfolio includes 15 properties with a development pipeline of approximately 6.5 million square feet. Pinny fosters collaborative relationships with colleagues and partners by bridging the gap between investors and management. Under his leadership, Resident has forged strong partnerships and unified teams to achieve a shared vision for the future.

  • Ornella brings more than 30 years of real estate development experience to her role as Chief Development Officer. Prior to joining Resident, she held leadership positions with SmartCentres and The Torgan Group and built a successful career as a developer from a practice as a professional planner. Ornella manages the Resident development team, overseeing all development concepts, design, and planning approvals. She has extensive experience obtaining governmental approvals and working with community groups and all partners that influence the development process. Ornella holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Waterloo. She is a committed mentor for women in the real estate industry, having served as co-chair of the Women’s Leadership Initiative for the Urban Land Institute.

  • Nick joined Resident in 2019, bringing over a dozen years of experience in a range of real estate finance and investment roles. As Chief Financial Officer, Nick plays a pivotal role in ensuring our financial success and growth. His responsibilities include overseeing financial and tax reporting, investor communications, transaction structuring and modelling, debt financing, cash flow budgeting, and development pro formas. Previously, he was a member of the Scotiabank real estate investment banking team, advising public clients on mergers and acquisitions, equity raises, and corporate finance matters. His prior experience includes work in equity research at Canaccord Genuity covering the REIT sector and as an accountant with KPMG. Nick’s analytical skills and keen eye for detail are instrumental to Resident’s financial success.

  • With over 14 years of experience in the value creation of mixed-use projects across North America, Kiran brings her unique expertise in planning, strategy, and placemaking to Resident. Her extensive background in diverse urban environments enriches our portfolio with a valuable and distinctive perspective. At Resident, she spearheads project positioning, sales and marketing strategies, investor and stakeholder relations, and implements business growth opportunities. Prior to joining Resident, Kiran was a Partner and Principal at Live Work Learn Play. She holds a Master of Planning (MPI) from Toronto Metropolitan University. Kiran is a dedicated contributor to Toronto’s real estate industry. Her active involvement extends beyond her role at Resident; she serves on the Urban Land Institute Outreach Committee and acts as a mentor to students enrolled in Toronto Metropolitan University’s Urban Planning program. Her multifaceted engagement underscores her passion for fostering positive change.

  • Tom brings more than 20 years of experience in land development, engineering, and sustainability to Resident. His wealth of experience spans brownfield redevelopment, large-scale communities, development approvals, infrastructure, and urban intensification projects. At Resident, Tom is involved in all technical aspects of our developments and provides expertise in engineering, sustainability, and pre-construction. Most recently, Tom acted as senior advisor to the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) committee, and led EV Charging Infrastructure in his role as VP, Engineering and Development at SmartCentres. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Master of Engineering from the University of Toronto and holds the P.Eng. designation. Tom is also a member of the Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC). Tom believes in sustainability and the importance of mitigating climate risk while also creating long-term value for investors. Tom’s approach exemplifies the harmonious integration of environmental responsibility with financial stewardship, ensuring that our projects not only thrive in the present but also stand as resilient and sustainable assets for generations to come.

  • With over 12 years of real estate development experience, Nikolas is a true expert in project management, land use, and urban planning. Nikolas is known for his strategic approach to development; he tirelessly manages our projects through every phase of the development process. He is an integral part of the success of Resident’s development portfolio. Prior to joining Resident, Nikolas held the position of Senior Development Manager at SmartCentres, where he oversaw developments from start to finish. Nikolas holds a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning from Toronto Metropolitan University and is a Registered Professional Planner with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute. Nikolas believes in responsible urban planning and is dedicated to creating spaces that enrich the lives of those who inhabit them. His commitment to both innovation and responsible development sets a strong example for our team and highlights Resident’s commitment to building for a better future.

  • Nathan joined Resident in 2018, bringing a wealth of financial and accounting experience to our team. His responsibilities include budgeting, financial reporting, strategic planning, and capital financing. With a sharp analytical mindset and meticulous attention to detail, Nathan plays a vital role in our financial success. Previously, Nathan held a range of accounting and management responsibilities at a Toronto-based real estate investment and management company. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Excelsior College and has completed Level 1 of the CFA Program. He believes in the power of strong financial foundations and is passionate about helping others achieve their financial goals. His dedication is a testament to his belief that sound financial practices can positively impact lives, both personally and professionally.

  • Yehuda joined the Resident team in 2019, bringing his expertise to the forefront of our operations. His role extends from overseeing our commercial leasing strategies to the meticulous planning and execution of capital expenditure projects. His keen eye for identifying valuable opportunities in property operations and redevelopment is critical to our success. Yehuda also plays a critical role in the strategic growth of our portfolio through his involvement in acquisitions and due diligence. Yehuda holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Excelsior College. His dedication to fostering strategic growth and achieving excellence in management ensures Resident delivers exceptional value to its partners and stakeholders.

  • Lindsey is the driving force behind the day-to-day operations at Resident. As the primary point of contact, she is dedicated to ensuring that communication and coordination flow seamlessly. Her adept skills allow her to effectively manage all office functions. She creates and maintains an organized and highly efficient work environment. Lindsey brings a wealth of experience to her role, from expertly coordinating projects to crafting strategic marketing campaigns. Her diverse skill set and dedication make her a valuable asset to our team. Lindsey holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta.

Plaza Partners is now Resident. Our new name and brand reflect who we are today: a company that prides itself on a people-first approach. The team at Resident looks forward to continuing to work together as we create places fit for every partner, neighbour, and resident.
